The Israelis and most of our media are lying as usual.

But here's the truth people :)

"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.

At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.

Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.

The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?

But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse."

When the American people stop their government from sending a total of $90 Billion of their taxes to Israel to support their barbaric acts then the fighting will stop.

And also when the American people stop their governments from vetoing any chance of a peaceful settlement, then maybe there will be an agreement.

One word, AMERICA. America fully and wholeheartedly supports Israel and won't give a damn if Israel wipes out every non-Jew in the entire Middle East. The hatred of non-Jews by Israeli extremists is shown in the bombings of innocent civilians and the US is glad because their MASTERS in Israel will give them access to oil. Yeah, I said masters, the United States is the puppet of Israel and wouldn't dare tell them if their actions amount to genocide.

I guess from what you're saying that Hezbollah, Hamas, Syria and Iran have no real responsibility in this, that Israel is really the culprit.

Israel is making "barbaric acts"? You must have missed a few thousand previous issues of the Financial Times to make statements like that. Your suggestion that Israel is committing barbaric acts is the equivalent of saying that the Allies in World War II committed barbaric acts in trying to free Europe, or that the Jews committed barbaric acts in trying to fight Nazi policies, or that all those people condemned to gulags in Stalinist Russia were committing barbaric acts in struggling to fight condemnation.

In other words, there IS another side to the story. This hardly needs to be said. Hamas, a/k/a the current government of Palestine, has been responsible for suicide bombers blowing up Israeli civilians for years. Hezbollah has been committing similar terrorist acts against civilians and military personnel for a couple decades; in fact one can say that the terrorist acts they are committing today are by getting their own Lebanese neighbors involved in the fighting. Claiming that Israel is "barbaric" while seeming to defend Hamas and Hezbollah really removes the credibility from your argument.

The Saudi government, of all people, have said that Hezbollah knew what it was doing and is now receiving the consequences. If Israel has stepped over the bounds -- as I think it has in Gaza but not Lebanon -- or not, Hezbollah KNEW where this was going to go. The fact that its there should be a surprise to absolutely no one. In that part of the world you don't open the door and then not expect a gust of wind to blow in.

Should the US tell Israel to stop? Why would we? Hezbollah has been a major thorn in our side, too. If Israel wants to take them out, why in the world would we feel inclined to say no? Again, you make powerful enemies, as Hezbollah has, and you should expect the consequences.

Rather than do what I've done for numerous other questions I'm simply going to suggest that you check your history -- and your facts -- before making statements like this. And make sure you take a moment to walk in both sets of shoes before blaming one party to the exclusion of the other.

UN and G8 can not do anything because Israel is defending it's own existence. IRAN gave arms to Hezbollah and the rest of Islamic countries gave money and arms to Hamas. Both these organizations and their sub-divisions, are more than willing to attack Israel.
However, the real reason behind the attack is the fact that negotiations with IRAN over Nuclear energy???? failed and IRAN was and is using those organizations as a power indicator. Therefore The free and civilized world has to do something about it. Thanks GOD that Israel is doing it for all of us.

The US controls the UN and Israel controls the US.

AIPAC controls the US politics. No party can be victorious without showing blind support for Israel.

Freakin' moron...
Nobody gives a crap about your cheap propaganda. Anyone can create websites like the ones you quoted from and write complete garbage. What's surprising is that if you go to even Israeli sources (I'm not talking to you about neutral sources such as the CNN or BBC or even Al Jazeera), you will see an almost neutral coverage of the situation (as neutral as it can be):
www.ynetnews.com

A far cry from your garbage propaganda.
