Folders that you have in gmail will not transfer to Outlook, and vice verse.

If you want to keep your new e-mail on the gmail server, you'll need to set up your gmail and Outlook accounts correctly.

Go to Tools/E-Mail Accounts/View or Change....click on your gmail account and hit Change...go to the More Settings button. On the Advanced tab, go to the Delivery section at the bottom and check "Leave a copy of messages on the server". The default for this setting is unchecked, so any e-mails downloaded before you do this may be deleted.

There is also a setting in gmail Settings/Forwarding and POP, No. 2 under POP Download that you can set according to your wishes.

I have my preferences set both in my Outlook and in gmail to be sure.

Gmail gets downloaded to your Outlook which is basically your hard drive. You can still go to gmail and your email messages will still be in your inbox. Your gmail on outlook can be customed to how you want it to look and feel....it will not reflect the changes when you go into http://www.gmail.com

properly i does not say it really is infinite yet in accordance this i chanced on on wikipedia it may as well be: In Outlook 2000 the optimal .pst record length replaced into constrained to a 2 GB (easily one million.933 GB[one million][2]). If this reduce is reached or surpassed, retrieval of documents interior the .pst record should be complicated if not not plausible. In Outlook 2003 and 2007, the default optimal length is 20 GB, as set interior the registry; inspite of the actuality that unicode PSTs are supported as a lot as 33 TB. even as interfacing with ANSI .pst documents in Outlook 2003 and 2007, both GB reduce continues to be in result. So yeah everywhere between 2GB for 2000 and 20GB for 2003 or 2007 and also you're quite properly set for life i imagine. wish this helps out MG, love ya.....Jay
