My fingers are perfect for cleaning out my nose. But yet they are really too big to do any real damage. It's like they were designed for that task.

The nose is a natural air filtration system for your respiratory system and like all filters they need to be cleaned out. The mucus moistens the hairs in your nose to help trap and hold dust and other particles to prevent them from entering the airway and lungs. Now comes the disturbing part - the mucus (I think I've spelled that wrong) dries up leaving the dust and dirt behind and sometimes this is difficult to extract by just blowing your nose. So what is the best way to get this stuff (boogers) out of your nose? Fingers!

So yes, I think God did design it like this - sort of like the 1911 pistol designed by John Browning. The entire thing can be totally disassembled using nothing but the parts within the gun itself - no additional tools are needed - it is totally self contained.

This is why you can't get your elbow in your ear - there is no design reason to do so.

They can be used for that, but it's also the perfect way to bring germs right to your mucous membrane where the germs can enter right into your bloodstream and make you sick. Picking nose and rubbing your eyes with your fingers is the most effective way to pick up something that will make you sick. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after if you're going to pick your nose.
