The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson) because they inspire me so much.
The Grateful Dead- We would have so much fun

Gomez :: i can listen to any of their albums [bring it on, liquid skin, machismo/abandoned shopping trolley hotline, in our gun, split the difference, how we operate] ad infinitum. and they are incredible live.
Radiohead :: ditto. OK Computer & The Bends are two of the greatest albums of all time. also incredible live. besides, johnny greenwood would probably take a coconut and somehow turn it into some kind of electronic instrument, despite the lack of electricity on the island. that's how awesome he is.
Ben Folds :: he'd be able to effectively rock out with any of the other musicians on the island. he's also a really cool guy.
Honorable Mention - The Highwaymen :: someone else mentioned them, and it would be great to have their incredible talents around. also, they could probably tell the best stories - anyone ever heard waylon jennings' autobiography as read by him? hilarious.

Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart.
And the 'band' would be the Academy of St Martins in the Fields.
This music will last a life.
In fact, for many, it already has.

Ooh, can I have 4 bands? if I can, then Fall Out Boy; Green Day; Panic! At The Disco; and The All-American Rejects. If I can only have 3, then.......Green Day, Panic! At The Disco, and The All-American Rejects.

Let's see... I like the music of Metallica -but would be afraid of them on an island. LOL!
I'd say, Christian groups like DC Talk, Toby Mac and Jump 5.
