The first World Series was held over 100 years ago, when the Americans unquestioningly dominated the game. They needed a moniker, something more creative than "League Championship," and "World Series" fit the bill.
I agree that it's really more of a national series, but I don't have too much of a problem with the name. I know Japan and other countries have excellent baseball players, but come on - the team that wins the World Series would destroy the Japanese League champs, so they do have a right to be called world champs.

Canada is not part of the US, so the Blue Jays are an exception to the World Series.

I am guessing it is the same reason they had the World baseball Classic. There are a lot of MLB players that are from different countries and parts of the world.

if any other country in the world actually played this boring game. no American team would ever win it again but no one does because basically its just grown up rounders and the most boring sport (if you could call it sport) in the world o sorry in America
