Why bother to lie about your age? I'm 48 years old, and not ashamed of it. Yes, I have a few silver hairs, and I earned every one of them. I truly don't understand why people would want to deny their life experience.

I agree with you! I feel that every new day offers new things in my life. I, too, have my gray hair and, like you, I earned every one. Much to the puzzlement of my younger sister, who has been hiding gray for years, I have no intention of coloring my hair. Most people think that my daughter and I are sisters, so evidently, the gray doesn't look too bad. If you worry about every day making you older, you miss the wonderful little surprises that each day offers. So many people die so young, it is a shame to regret turning a year older. Each day should be considered a gift rather than a curse.
If we could be thankful for every day that we are alive, we wouldn't have sadness about silly things like a birthday or gray hairs.

I am not ashamed of my age. I am thankful for every year I have on this earth. I did make a mistake once when my kids were little and told them my age, and you can guess how many people knew after that. Not such a good idea.

Probably for the same reason people dye their hair and have face lifts and laser therapy to remove spider veins...people are afraid of getting old.

I'm 30 and proud of it! No gray hairs yet, but I'm anxiously awaiting some. (Seriously!) I figure we get wrinkly and gray for a reason...our bodies age...they're SUPPOSED to look old. I'm not saying you should look like you're 65 when you're only 45...that would lead me to believe you've had a hard life. But what's so wrong with growing old gracefully? Silver hairs, crows feet, age spots, spider veins...bring 'em on, I'm ready!!

Well, sometimes it's more about hoping for future life experiences rather than denying past ones...:-)

I don't get it either. I don't even kno how old my mom is. She won't tell me, my brother, or my sister! I think my dad knos. My dad is not ashamed to be turning 52 this august.

Because we live in a society that is so fixated on Age and Youth.
