The Israelis and most of our media are lying as usual.
But here's the truth people :)
"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.
At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.
Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.
The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?
But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse."

When the American people stop their government from sending a total of $90 Billion of their taxes to Israel to support their barbaric acts then the fighting will stop.

And also when the American people stop their governments from vetoing any chance of a peaceful settlement, then maybe there will be an agreement.

Didn't Israel withdraw from the occupied territories that was a demand for peace by the Arab nations? They did. Hasn't Israel used restraint before this conflict? Yes they have.
Israel is peaceful.
How about Iran & Syria - who openly support the destruction of Israel?
How about Iran & Syria - who openly finance & supply Hamas, Hezbollah and numerous other terror groups who openly state that they want the complete destruction of Israel? Are they peaceful?

In their 60 years of existance, they've had numerous enemies seeking to wipe them from the face of the Earth, and they've sustained continuous terrorist attacks for year after year, now.
They withdrew from the 'contested' areas to foster peace, or at least to show the dense people of the world that the violence is not of their doing. Because they withdrew, now they feel fully justified, and quite correctly, to respond massively when enemy combatants attack their borders and people.
Anybody who thinks Israel would have commenced these military operations without provocation is a liar, and is ignorant of the history of Israel.

History and present day actions show and prove that they are not peaceful.
It's history repeating itself over and over again. Have any of you heard of the Israeli Sabra & Shatila massacre in Lebanon or the Deir Yassin massacre in Palestine. I guess not because the "western" media doesn't show the autocracies of Israel.

What kind of human beings are we turning to, to allow Israel to do this over and over again under the false pretense that it is "defending itself"? Israel is the aggressor occupying a land that is not theirs regardless of what they are saying?
What many cannot understand is that Israel will go to any length to achieve its goals and eliminate whoever gets in the way, even if it is the US itself.
From history, Israel did conduct attacks on the US harming and murdering US citizens trying to set up Arab countries in the process so that the US may start with these countries – Check the sources below: USS Liberty and the Lavon affair

Israel in fact murdered Rachel Corrie in cold blood by running a bulldozer over her body – what a terrible death for someone who was trying to save other peoples’ homes form destruction.
If what many sources are saying about Israeli involvement in 9/11 are proven true, then you have yet another proof of how Israel can harm and murder US citizens to achieve its goals.

Peaceful Israel is not only harming the "bad Arab terrorists" - Israel is also harming and murdering "their allies" and the citizens of the country that gives a very large portion of their taxpayers money to equip Israel with the weapons to carry out is ethnic cleansing. So it shouldn't surprise me that many of these citizens would not want to see what their money is doing to others.
Now peaceful Israel is goading Iran & Syria into war and I believe that what the US citizens are really missing to see when they defend Israel's right to "defend itself" is that if they go into war with Iran, the US & coalition soldiers will be the ones who will suffer and not the Israeli soldiers. The US soldiers will be caught in the middle and Israel will send out its nuclear weapons from Israel to destroy Iran, catching the US soldiers in the process. Is this what the US really wants for its soldiers - to fight Israel's unlawful battles at their (US) soldiers expense?

Never did! Zionism is alive and well.
Did you ever ask yourself why Israel's enemies are never interviewed during the conflict.
Isn't there three sides to every story? Israels, Hezbollah and the Truth. We always are given Israel's side; and we swallow the hook, line and the sinker.
Isn't propaganda a great tool?
