Because we are against affirmative action, against illegals, against gay marriage..etc etc, they call us racists and bigots. Why do they say that? I mean its like a grade school argument and calling names but why cant they have an adult arguement or debate about it without resorting to name calling?

Liberalism always has the perception of being hypocritical and off the wall. Whether we're referring to liberalism with regards to spreading democracy in other countries or liberalism with regards to civil rights here in America, the old school doesn't want to have to deal with the new school.
So when liberals don't feel like they're being heard conventionally because of red tape or arrogance, they go to the next level which is behaving like a little kid and being drastic. This gets viewed as unprofessional, so then we argue over "how much is too much?" and "how far is too far?"
Specifically, calling conservatives racists is just a way to getting attention and a way to spread ideas just as much as any other accusation. It isn't an effective tactic in itself, but when it's used at the right place at the right time, it works.
Thing to know about politics is that in order to make an impact, you can't let personal policy get in the way of what needs to get done, and if that means lying about your OWN feelings, THATS OKAY. Most people don't understand that universal policies aren't applicable. Take affirmative action. I'm sure if you thought about it long enough, you could find some circumstances where an underprivileged child in a certain minority deserves some extra help. But to say everyone in that minority deserves help is stereotypical itself, which is ironically hypocritical in how liberals argue against profiling for security.
It's just a matter of making sure you're being heard. Practicing and understanding a concept are two complementing techniques of comprehension. Just because a conservative is called a racist or bigot doesn't mean he's understood to be a racist or bigot.

Ask a legitimate question about any of the above issues and we can have an adult debate about it. Since your question makes you appear to be on the level of a 7th Grader, I don't see how you can criticize anyone for not taking part in adult debate.
In fact, in your history, I have rarely seen questions that ask for any legitimate debate. I only see questions that are posed to insult people with whom you disagree.
Look in the mirror about your accusations then come back and ask real questions.

Rephrase that question without the "libtard" and I'll consider answering it...name calling, lol. Yup, you started this one off as an adult argument alright.

Funny, earlier this morning, I responded to a Repub. who was calling Liberals racists. I think it's safe to say that there are those on both sides who are bigots, but the majority of both are normal, intelligent people.

Liberals have no answers so their only alternative is to bash Bush. What do you think about the immigration problem? We don't know but we hate Bush. What should we do about better education? We don't know but Bush is an idiot. What should we do to keep America safe from terrorists? We don't know but Bush is a jerk. Come on Libs, give us some thoughts or solutions and maybe we'll listen and consider them. I am an Independent so give me something, anything, to think about. and maybe i'll vote for you

Calling someone a libtard doesn't help your case. Shake off the anger thing and try again.

I find it humorous how you complain about grade-school tactics and namecalling, while at the same time using the term "libtards" and stereotyping an entire political party in one fell swoop.

Because it's easier than thinking. Why try to understand somebody you disagree with when you can act like a 3 year old and call them names. Especially if it will get you votes.

Name calling is more or less calling someone something they aren't. You are racists, bigots, and extremely ignorant. That is a fact, not childish name-calling.
