The ICC Cricket World Cup is the world championship of one-day cricket, a tournament held quadrenially between all Test-playing nations (currently 10 nations), plus qualifiers. The next tournament will be held in the West Indies in 2007 and will consist of 16 teams.

I am sorry to say that there is no world cup played in 1996. I think you had typed 1995 instead of 1996. So the answer iis SriLanka.
There is a interesting fact about this world cup. It is the first team to win all the matches in a world cup and another thing is that it won that world cup in their own country.

There was no 1995 cricket WC. Sri Lanka won it in 1996.
