There are many great violin concertos, but my favorite violin concertos are by:

Mendelssohn (a very beautiful piece, great melodies)
Samuel Barber (a modern piece, tense, dramatic)
Tchaikovsky
Max Bruch

I like the Saint-Saens and Tchaikovsky vn concertos.
