I have Norton Internet Security,A-Aware and Spybot but they have not found it.Help appreciated by 80 year old housebound who depends on computer for outside contact

try also www.trendmicro.com and run the online tool
and consider downloading the trial of pc-cillin internet security.

if you are unable to get online from the problem computer get a friend or relative to download the software you need (symantec (norton provide the updates for manual download) to a DVD or CD-R and then run the programs on the infected computer. once done your system should be back to normal.
if all else fails try modifying the sytem registry manualy and searching for the premium rate number and replace it with your own isp number.
however if you are a broadband customer then just disconnect your old dial up modem from the outside line. this will stop (in most cases) the premium rate number from dialing. also contact your telephone company and have premium rate numbers blocked by default. then at least you will not be charged if one does re-infect your system once cleaned.

have you updated the definitions for your norton product recently if not this could be the problem. as you may be aware you need to run updates regularly on your security products failure to run the updates makes the security software effectivly useless as new maleware is detected on an almost daily basis.

as such trend micro release a new update every few hours when required.

if the software fails to detect the troublesome dialer then try to run system restore to go back to a date and time before the dialer wason your system. any programs you installed after the restore point would have to be re-installed.

i'm surprised that spybot search and destroy failed to find the problem it is normally pretty good likewise with adawre from lavasoft.com www.spybot.com for the most recent spybot
try getting spyware blaster aswell. you can always try windows defender from microsoft.com free.

if the suggestons i have provided fail to remove the premium rate number then the last resort would be to restore your system to an as new state. so find all the system software disks and your back ups of your critical documents. pressuming you know what to do start with the restore disk your system manufacturer should have supplied. if this is a home or custom built system then you start with the operating system and all your essential software finaly you install your ISP software and last of all your security programmes.
