I HOPE he does - he is having a great year. But the wear and tear of a season is likely to take its toll. These guys are closest to pitches all year, yet you don't see catchers as batting champions all that often.
Catchers have the hardest grind out there. 150-200 plays a night, countless foul tips, game-in, game-out. There is a reason why most catchers move out of the position in their early-to-mid 30's.

Joe Mauer is doing awsome this year and he is helping the Minnesota Twins out a lot. If he doesn't win it would be a shame. Go Twins!

He will win if he keeps walking, it will defiantely improves his battling avg.
The only other person that might beat Mauer is Ichiro, and he doesn't walk, so it favors mauer.
