OK, here it is. I have had to go for a minor surgery recently, and even though I told them it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to be pregnant (I have not been in a relationship, therefore had not had sex in at least 6 months) I was forced to go for a pregnancy test anyway. Then, the surgery was postponed and re-scheduled, then they made me go for ANOTHER one (and yes, I had to pay for both of them). Now I am going for the follow-up procedure, and guess what? I have to go for ANOTHER one, and the most infuriating part is ALL THREE TIMES I had to go for the test, I was on my period the day I had to take (and waste money I really could not afford to waste) on the test. So why can't a woman who KNOWS it is IMPOSSIBLE for her to be pregnant just sign a waiver or something instead of taking a pointless test?

I am going through the same thing. I don't see why they can't just use one of those home pregnancy test type kits, or allow the patient to buy one, then do it right before surgery. That would be a lot cheaper.

Sorry that you ended up with the butt end of the deal...but it is because some women will say "I'm not pregnant" when they are. And I would omit paying that part of my bill. It doesn't screw up your credit as much as they say it does.

Simple. The hospital is protecting themselves. If you WERE to be pregnant, they would anesthetize the baby too, probably killing it, then you would sue them.
