Selling drugs is very profitable and lucrative. But as far as your major, that's a different story...

First, what do you love to do? Ok, rule that out as a career, because you'll start to hate it if you are forced to do it constantly (i.e., I used to love programming, now I spend my days on Yahoo! Answers while at work to avoid having to look at another line of code).

Find something you really like, or at least don't mind doing. Like biology? Be a vet or a doctor. Like science? Be a research engineer. You'll figure it out.

And, just so you know, money isn't everything. I make about $70K, but I'd trade it for a minimum wage job that I didn't hate.

Chemical Engineers currently have the highest average starting salery at $55,900.

All engineering degrees are in high demand right now. Keep in mind though that a lot of engineering jobs are located in places where a fifty thousand year job still means ramen noodles. Buisness or finance degrees might not initaly pay as much but will give you a wider range of career opertunities. Philosophy degrees mean you can take my order and I do want fries with that.

Obviously, the most profitable career is bank robbery...but you don't want to rob banks, do you?

If you are choosing a career path, it may be wiser to expand your advisement contacts beyond the Internet chat rooms. It would be in your best interest to visit your community college and speak with an adviser to identify your strongest interests and possibilities. They will have a greater reference of career options than we will here on Yahoo and believe it or not, they are more experienced in helping people with this same situation!

Buy/build a church, hire a minister, sit back and rake it in! Although, with all the money you save not paying property taxes, you might actually try and put the money to good use, like charity!
Profitable comes in many forms, for me, it's how much I enjoy my life that matters. I teach ballroom dancing, and for me, there is no job more fun. It also allows me to have TONS of free time. Lots of free time, enjoyable work, thats the recipe for a rich life.

If you're in a field just for the money, you'll be miserable.

If you just want the money, go register for 'The Apprentice'
You know, that game show where the grand prize is a job.
