There is a woman that I work with who claims to have Mono, she takes all kinds of time off because of it. A Doctor told me you can't get Mono after a certain age...she is 31. Is she a little faker?

Well she may or may not be a faker...I work at a hospital and I just asked a Dr about your question and he said that it is very rare in a 31 year old and it can happen..he also said that when it does happen in the 31 year old it would tend to be worse then the usual 15-24 age range that occurs. They say that almost 85% of people over 35 have had it at one time in thier lives...I personally have had it but im only 23...It doesnt last forever so she may be milking it.

Of course. You can get mono at any age. It is a viral infection most common in people between the ages of 15-35.

Yes, you can. Mono has nothing to do with age, and it does take a long time (sometimes 6+ weeks) to get over it.

It is possible to get mononucleosis at any age, but it becomes much less likely as you get older. This is because the Epstein-Barr virus is pretty common and most adults have had enough exposure to build up full immunity by the time they are in their mid-30s.

you can still get it at age 31, also it can be more severe at that age. the older you are the more likly it is to also develope into cancer, give her all the time off she needs. i have met a 45 year old lady whos mono turned cancerous and it is a epidermal facial cancer.

there is still a chance she could get it, although most people get mono before their 20s.. i just had mono and my doctor said more than 50% of people are carrying it so if she hadn't gotten it before then maybe she has it now.. tell her to get a test

If she had mono she would be getting treatment and be over it in about 4 days. Anything else is simply incorrect.

yes you can i had it when i was younger and it is not pretty she wouldn't be able to work if she had it trust me i was out of commission for 2 weeks and still was not a hundred percent better and in those two weeks all i did was sleep..also a way to tell whether she has it is if she says she is on a antibiotic for it she is lyin all you can do for it is take aspirin and tylenol because it is a virus and not a infection...
