Scotland could've made it on it's own if Maggie Thatcher didn't sell our oil - witch! I'm still not sure about this - but if they want to give it a go then let's see how we all get on. I always refer to myself as Scottish NOT British just as the Welsh say they are welsh and the English say they are Englisg not British. At the end of the day I don't think it will happen.

The UK is made up of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. So you could ask the same of the other countries.

It isn't the same as if they were part of a larger country, Scotland has its own parliament.

Although I never say Im British or from the UK, I would rather stay within the Kingdom for the obvious economic and trade reasons.

I don't mind either way really. I'm scottish and love being a part of the uk!! I think though that scotland would struggle being an independant country. . . . . Do you have a problem with us being linked to England???

i think its sad, im english and see the uk as a family - we have our quarrels and pretend to dislike each other but at the end of the day we have a long history together - some good some bad.

In a time of increased immigration to the UK i feel we should stick together. It seems these days that the only people that refer to themselves as british are muslims! ha ha ha dream on!

A recent poll amongst Scottish MPs said no; they preferred devolution plus the ability to run England too.

This question is fraught with potential backlash. The uneduacted will get distraught and those who think they know the answer will get it wrong. However it will be very interesting to read the answers.

If they do want independence, then they should have their MPs removed from Westminster so they do not interfere with the affairs of England
