B-truth,
I applaud your journey on the path to service. Every little thing we do to help others, brings happiness to our Father. Make very sure that your motives are pure. We have only to look at Brad Pitt and Bono, to see those who claim to care for others, while riding around in one of their many limos. Not to judge them, of course. If any of their efforts bring some relief to those in need, then they have done well. I have a suggestion for your next mission. It was started by the greatest man who ever lived, but the mission has been largely lost, due to misdirection and confusion on the part of His intended followers. The One we call Jesus, came to bring the message, that we are invited to engage in a Spiritual bonding with our Creator. When this bonding takes place, we become new creatures. The values of materialism and fear, fall away, and we begin to take on the characteristics of the Immortal, based on Love and Wisdom. Unfortunately, this message has been lost in the junkpile of man-made religions. It is up to individuals such as yourself, to first live, and then share this answer to all of man's problems. Only by transforming into our Higher Selves, can we gain the knowledge and insight to make the best choices, as individuals, and as a species.

I'd imagine your first mission will lead you right into your next mission. You'll come across something new right at the shelter. Just be open to the experience. There are plenty of organizations out there who need the help, so I'm glad you're getting out there.
