When I recently got a new cell from my current phone company, they asked if I wanted them to upload/download (don't know which term they used) my old numbers onto my new phone. I declined but you should ask your cell provider, I 'm sure they could do it for you.

Actually there are 3 different ways to do so:
a) IR (Infrared), both cellulars need to have the IR activated in order to transfer your information from one to other.. To do it easy, you better go to "select all" and transfer, this may take a few moments, the IR is very slow, so you better keep your 2 phones align for a while.
b) Bluetooth, both need to have this option available and turned on, this one is very quick, you do not need to have the phones aligned, because this is a infrequence, so you just need to go to "select all" option and transfer/Copy/send to your new phone.
c) Chip, there are several phones that have a chip/Card inside, where everything gets recorded, that is even you phone number and system information there, you just need to switch this one to the new and everything that you have in your old phone goes there so you can immediately have it available in your new phone...
Hope this helps.

I have found no way to transfer them except to rekey them all. But there are phones that have a smart chip in them and you can save all your numbers on there and just transfer the smart chip to a new phone. All ring tones and downloaded games are gone also when i changed phones....they are stored in the phone, but that is it....

You should be able to take your SIM card from your old phone to your new.
Or your service provider can do the transfer for you.
