Apparently many people don't mind looking stupid to others.
Despite what they like to think, spelling does matter, and so does grammar. Those are the things that determine whether you're perceived as an intelligent person or just another functional illiterate.

People don't bother to use the tools made available. Reading the questions is comical, and sadly enough, it reflects on the schooling of the individuals. The "I don't care" attitude is very prevelant, and it also reflects the age group of the people. Consider that some, a very few, are from other places than America, therefore, the command of a very dificult language is somewhat lacking. Being COOL has a great influence as well; You know, baggy pants, weraing a ball cap sideways, etc. After all, "Everybody does it."

Some people like to make up their own spellings of words because it looks better than the proper way (i.e. Sexiie instead of Sexy or Babie Gurl instead of Baby Girl) and some people just like to type the way they talk. Some people type so fast and are too lazy to hit the spell check button. Some are just lazy and don't care how awful they sound. It only takes a second to run a spell check!

Because the spell checker isn't exactly built in - it has to be manually invoked, unlike most, if not all, word-processors where the spell checker runs automatically (unless you turn it off) correcting errors on the fly.

I think it is because most of us type so quickly that we do not bother checking our spelling.

Also, from reading some of the questions and answers, most people don't seem to have an education level above 4th grade, so it's difficult to get adult conversations here.

I think it is because people just don't care enough to use Spell Check
