I recall that it is primarily an earth based religion. Santeria developed out of the Caribbean slaves using Catholicism to disguise their African beliefs, etc. Many think that sociologically it is a means to control groups and societies, fear, etc.
The theory of zombification was studied and thought to contain puffer fish toxin. Vodoun will always be a mystery. I do not think it is anything to fear personally. I don't believe people need amulets, spells, etc. to wish good or bad, If they are innately in tune with these energies, then it is like pulling your favorite writing pen from your shirt pocket.

No personal experiences with voodoo, but I've been to New Orleans and been in some of the shops there, even the Voodoo Museum where they have one heck of an alter set up. I believe in it and respect it.

As a woman who's family is long steeped in the deep South, I can say, yah, I believe in voodoo. Realize there is black voodoo (the bad ****) and white voodoo (the good kind) and honestly, it's not to be messed with. I've known people...I've...seen things, that couldn't be explained in any rational explantion. Just don't fool with the janga, dat be far beyond your kin girl!

You left out Druidism, Witchcraft, and Shamanism.I believe in Druidism,I am of Celtic decent.I was curious about my ancestry so I studied up on alot of subjects(and not the hollywood stereotype of Druidism either).Druidism is not some awesome power give to people hiding in the woods wearing robes and sacrificing babies ,but more of an understanding of the world, plants, animals, water, life, death, even peolpe.Understanding all of these things is where thier strength lies.
