There are no solutions.

If you multiply both sides of the 1st equation by 2, you get:

2x-2y=-8

The 2nd equation, of course, is -2x+2y=-8.

And when you add the two equations, you get 0+0=-16, which is obviously false. Therefore, the system is "inconsistent," and has no solutions.

Hope that helps!

x - y = -4
-2x + 2y = -8

Solve each equation for y

x - y = -4
-y = -x - 4
y = x + 4

-2x + 2y = -8
2y = 2x - 8
y = x - 4

Now that they are in the slope-intercept form (y = mx + b), you see that the lines are parallel (have the same slope), so there is no solution.
