You make a good point, but as you know, the reason that you don't call him your boyfriend is that you will be assumed to have a homosexual relationship. Men need emotional intimacy with other men, just as women do with each other; but be mindful of the society you live in. Your friendship will probably not survive a lot of public negativity.

That's a really good question. I don't have a good answer. I guess it's just a language/culture thing. Guys just don't call their friends boy friends. They prefer to use words like bud, buddy or pal, etc. Women don't use other words for friend.
