Paapanibi,
Before we can answer your question, we must accurately define the most corrupted word in the english language. Love. In it's truest and highest sense, love is the recognition that we are all, at the most important level, One with each other. That which you do to another, you do to yourself, and to God. When you have learned this great Truth, you will make every effort to treat others as you would like to be treated. You also may at last begin to love yourself. Not in the selfish sense of pleasing yourself, but appreciating the extreme value that God has placed on you, and all others. What we like, changes with time and disposition. Love is eternal.

Love (In my own words) is the highest and most powerful feeling. In a relationship the word love is suppose to be a meaningful and special word. A word to express that your feelings are much greater than a like.
Like is a mediocre term for almost anything. You like this car, you like a guy at the bar. Love can not be used to describe your feelings toward something casual. Love is usually a feeling that occurs over time.

You can like anyone. Like certain things about them or everything about them.
Love is something you feel deep inside you and you can not love everyone or everything.

Because love comes from deep, down within. You make sacrifices for people you love. And most people would die for someone they love... especially their kids.
I doubt I would die for someone I just "liked".
