I'm a died-in-the-wool darwinist and I give him a 9 as far as relevancy. He did get some minor details wrong, and he was unaware of things like genetics and DNA, which would have filled in other details ... but many, many other scientists have corrected or filled in these details over the years. But overall, his theory of natural selection hit a huge nail on the head and as the evidence for it has grown, it has became the unifying theory of all of biology.

For example, the use of the word "evolution" was not Darwin's choice. He did not like the term, and preferred "descent with modification" ... he thought "evolution" gave too much of an impression of "progress" and he did not like the idea that nature is progressive (i.e. moving *towards* some "goal") ... and on this he was correct. However, "evolution" caught on.

Darwin is not a saint. He made some mistakes. But I can think of few other scientists (maybe Galilleo and Newton) who have changed science so radically.

They apply whereever and whenever there is life. Charles Darwin noticed the phenomena of natural selection and how it influences populations. Look at today's society, women love men that are tall, dark and handsome...this type of selection creates a generation of men with the same traits who themselves have a greater chance to reproduce. This will lead to general trends in human appearance and body structure. People also choose people of the opposite sex that show good health are great intelligence........all of these traits are chosen based on Chucky D's theory of natural selection....
The theory of evolution (theory meaning fact in scientific lingo) is also demonstrated today as well. If God created all life on this planet to be perfect, then why are some of the things he made changing. Look at humans, according to the bible, we are the ultimate being on the planet........of course this is because a human wrote the bible (shaking my head). We are supposed to be perfect, vessels of God, then how come our appendix doesn't work, why are our little toes completely useless, why is it that we have a caecum and no use for it?........can the bible explain that?
The bible states that the earth is 6 thousand years old.......thats proposterous....Charles Darwin noticed that fact was false when he read Lylle's book on Geology. The worst part is that Chucky D was studying to be a clergyman.............if he changed his mind, then why wont other religious people?
Im tired or the Science vs. Religion thing........it'll never end, strict religious followers wont accept science to explain life on earth, they rely on God, but when they are sick, God gets tossed out and they come crawling back to science for a cure..........

Sorry for the debate, I just hate when people diss Charles Darwin and reject any possibility that his theories exist and are factual. I believe in God as well, but Im also a scientist and I feel that the bible just doesnt always explain everything.........Daniel.........

I would have to say 10 out of 10 for this one.
Hope that answers your question!

Charles Darwin's theory is non-applicable by any means whatsoever. What is applicable to us who read the Bible is that God himself created every living creature upon the face of our planet. God did not create man out of a monkey, God really created man out of the red dirt from the earth and breathed life into the red dirt, and that red dirt became the man as we know today. If God created man out of a monkey, He must be a monkey himself. As theologians, we know that God created man out of the dust from the earth and breathed life into it!!!
