its had a tune up ny service engine light is now flashing...i have been told o2sensors,coil (which one) unknown..and themostate...it starts after 5 or 10 mins. of setting and then it goes for a ways and does it again...

If this is a 1969 GMC and you have the original engine, you don't have any O2 sensor. Try replacing the coil. I had a 65 Chevelle with a similar problem many years ago. It was the coil. The coil has a spark plug type wire going from the top to the middle of the distributor cap. It also has smaller wires held on by nuts on each side of the larger spark plug type wire. Easy to change yourself and not very expensive.

My car did something like that. It was vapor locked. Had a terrible time getting it fixed.
