This is my day off and I had a whole list of things to do today. Things such as mow the lawn, scrub the bathtub, empty all the litterboxes, and scrub them good before refilling..things like this.

I woke up this morning with a headache :(

I think my head wants to kick back and relax, but I want to use this time to get things done.

I mowed the lawn, but my headache got worse, so I came to Yahoo Answers to relax a bit before sallying forth. Since I am here, I will ask this question.

How do you get your mind to stop interferring with the ability to get things done??

Should I kick back and relax and give in to myself??? Or should I work through the pain???

I am going to work through the pain, but I want to know what others would do.

You have to listen to your body/mind. You can't pour from an empty cup. Take some rejuv time and chill. The chores aren't going anywhere. They'll still be there after a hot bath a nap.

If you kick back and relax you will be pissed at your self. Take some headache medicine, take a nap until the pain is gone, get up do what what you need to do on your day off to stay ahead. Ya know? The feeling of the day being wasted is gone. You will sleep good at nite

Take some tylenol, drink a lot of water (it is HOT outside), and tell yourself that at the end of the day you are going to do something really nice for yourself that doesn't require you to think about anything at all. Allocate 30 minutes or an hour or whatever, to do that one thing.
Take care of what you need to do otherwise you will regret it and will feel like you wasted your day off but treat yourself for a job well done, once you've accomplished your tasks.
Make a check off list that shows everything you need to do and at the end of the list, write down what you WANT to do (sleep, etc.). Check the items off as you complete them and then you will be rewarded with the thing you want to do, plus feeling a sense of accomplishment and that you didn't waste your day.

Obviously it is more than your mind. Headaches are usually stress related. See if it is tension based - from your neck or shoulders by stretching a bit and seeing if that stops the pain, if it does then your tension based....now the trick is dealing with the tension for some relaxing is the way to go, for others vigorous exercise works great.

I would get the important things done and then take some tylenol for the headache and curl up in a blanket and watch my favorite movie with some popcorn!

I take a couple BC powders, let them start to work, and then get moving. Playing some music would probably help. Don't turn on the TV, whatever you do.

And being on the computer probably isn't a really good idea, either.

first of all, don't make yourself suffer with the pain if you have any over the counter pain reliever, use it and then rest until the headache is gone then you'll be good to go.

you are mixing the mind up with the brain. If you are ill, treat the illness not your lawn lol
