I've had it for as long as I can remember. I've read it goes away by the late twenties. Normally mine doesn't bother me but lately its really red and Im embarrassed to wear short sleeves. I have Dermadoctor products but that only helps with the bumps. The redness is what really bothers me. Does anyone have this problem and is there anyway to tame the redness?

I think it is keratosis pilaris. This condition is usually related to atopic dermatitis which they say is familial or hereditary, so theres no way to prevent this and unfortunately nothing to treat it completely. Currently they only prescribe meds to supress the symptoms which the most common is redness. Keep the area of your skin well moisturized, they recommended mositurizers containing urea. Even room humidifiers help a little. Taking oral (Loratadine) and topical antihistamines (Dipenhydramine) will decrease the redness (Oral forms make you sleepy, so you might not want to take it) Steroids (e.g. Hydrocortisone) will get the redness out, but is not to be used long term! you an use it a couple of days prior to a special occassion. Lastly, Consult your dermatologist!

I have it...it's all over my arms & legs. Also, it's actually called Keritosis Pilaris. Sadly I've had people ask me if I was cold because to them it looked like I had goosebumps. I've tried researching & looking it up on WebMD & they have suggestions for things to help & stuff to use. To the best of my knowledge it does not go away & it's hereditary. Both my parents have it still & they are 50 & 60 years old.

Yes i have this i think. i have several bumps on my arms but thankfully they're not red. i heard you should put vaseline on your arms because these lumps are due to dead skin or something.
