I am a stay at home mom. I have wanted to go to massage school for a long time. All the schools in my area are not accredited. I cannot afford the $4,000. So I was wondering dose anyone know if there are reputable online schools I can enroll in and at least start my education) (obveiously not the physical bodywork part) Is there such a thing? Or even anything else online wise that I can educate myself with (reflexolgy, aromatherapy ect.) in the mean time. I really want to at least start. I have wanted this for so long.

I am a Florida lic. massage therapist and am currently trying to lic. myself in another state.
It is a complicated web of laws that differ state by state and as with the answer above, some states do not even require a lic. at all. You need to contact your state's massage board for local requirements or the AMTA for more specifics.
I personally do not believe in online classes, as I feel it it truly in one's best interest to attend classes in person, but you most definately should try your local wellness center or holistic center for specialized classes on a particular subject. Polarity training is usually much less expensive and in the same field, so you might want to look into that to get you going on the right path. Please do not get frustrated over it and wind up going to a non-accredited school for any of your training, they are pointless and I don't even know how they are legally operating. Hope this helps!

Check with your state. You may not even need training to do massage work. Check local library and bookstores on massage therapy. You may be able to learn on your own. Be careful though of medical problems of your clients.
