Well he was obsessed with the book Catcher in the Rye and he also thought he was the lead character in that book called Halden Calfield or something lke that. Plus he thought he was John Lennon so he went and killed John because he thought John had stole his identity as the Beatle singer. He actually had the book catcher in the rye in his hand when he killed John. He was just really insane about that book.

I don't know why he did it. But there is a movie coming out called Chapter 27 that might help. Jared Leto plays Chapman and gained 60 pounds to play the part.

Some hard core beatle fans such as myself do not like yoko in belife that she helped brake up the beatles, and that she hired him to kill Lennon. If you look at a modern picture of her she clearly spends alot of money has had plastic surgery, implants and does not promote peace. I think now she it trying to marry Paul so she can get his money too, or what is left of it from his recent split from heather.

he was/still is (??) crazy. that's all there is to it. he had a crazy obssesion with John Lennon, and was jealous that John Lennon was "doing things" and he was just a "nobody". at once point, he claimed God told him to. apparently Chapman even married a Japanese woman just because she looked like John's wife Yoko. can we spell i-n-s-a-n-e??
