i would be useing the boat for trolling and fishing in rivers and the mouths of the rivers only

If you have some strong currents to contend with you might consider going up to 7.5 HP or 10 HP. Otherwise go between 3-5 HP and you will be able to troll to your hearts delight. Since you are talking about rivers, I would go gasoline not electric.

Since ur talkin bout trollin' don't get no 10 horse , that gets to load if ur usin gas and gas is about the only way to go. I would say to get a 3 to 6 horse motor depending on what the currents are like around u and also if ur fishing make sure not to get a motor thats gonna scare the fish like one of those 10 horses!

I think you ought to get a bigger boat. Say a 16 foot john and a 25hp. I hear to many horror storys about the little guys. Besides, mabie some of us could go.

depending on what river you are on the current os probably under 9 knots so you might want to get at least a 10 horse outboard.

A 2 or 3 horse would move it fine.
