I'm training a Walker right now, and he's fantastic. They're very responsive, easy going, and have fantastic gaits. However, most Walkers require consistent riding and training to maintain their proper gaits. They can also be a tad more "up". Walkers can also be hard to buy, especially if you want to show one, so if you don't know Walker conformation and gaits well, be sure to have someone go with you to scout some out.
Appaloosas, are attractive, and are very much like quarter horses and paints in terms of personality, temperament, and disposition. Appys, do not require as much consistent riding, and generally pretty easy keepers. They are much more "dead" than a Walker, which is not a bad thing. Perhaps, decide what you want to do with horses, showing, trails, speed events, jumping, etc, then decided upon a breed. A Walker jumping would look strange, but an Appy who has good conformation, temperament, and attractive gaits would be a waste as a trail horse.

Well, personally I would go for a Paso Fino--they are gaited like a Tennessee Walker but even smoother. If the Paso Fino is out of the question, I would go with a Tennessee Walker or another gaited horse. Appaloosa's are beautiful horses, but they have no special gait and their mane and tail are sometimes sparse--however, if you're going to base your horse on color, go for the Appaloosa. If you want a good riding horse that will make a beautiful smooth ride (I use mine for trail riding), get a Paso Fino, Tennessee Walker or other gaited horse. You will thank yourself for it later! And definately don't breed the two horses together!! One of my friends had a Paso Fino mare that had been accidentally bred to an Appaloosa, and TRUST ME--you do NOT want the result of that breeding. I'm sure he would have made a nice horse, but his appearance was definately not beautiful. I don't mean to insult him, but he was not the most beautiful horse. I would defintely look into a Paso Fino--it was the best choice I ever made!

We can't choose for you. Why don't you look for a Walkaloosa- a cross between the Appaloosa and the Tennessee Walker? They are usually spotted like Apps but gaited like Walkers. There's your horse - a combination of both!

Tennessee Walkers oh what a gait however very expensive. I think Appy's are very tempermental they are good horses but I would prefer a Walker. If you are wanting to show get a Walker if you want a horse for lesiure an appy is better.

I would say a walker cause i have been told all my life that the only good appy is a dead appy....not sure why or if it is because of thier attitudes but thats what i have been told but you make up your own mind .... dont let someone else tell you what you should get... make sure you and the horse have a heart to heart before you decide to buy either of them

both breeds are wonderful, you shouldn't go for breeds, but the temperment of the individual horse.
