They were attacked with missiles, if they just sat there, and didn't retaliate, they would be seen as weak, and there would be even more attacks. I think they have to do what they are doing to put a stop to it.

Lets look at the facts from the begining. Israel occupied parts of lebanon for many years. They claim they have withdrawn (which came partially because of Hizbullah resistance), but they actually still occupy a part of lebanon that is strategically important to them (elevated and good for radar). They still have some lebanese civilians as detainees, some that have been encarcerated for 30 years, and the most recent was a fisherman taken from his boat 6 months ago.
Hizbullah kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers. These weren't innocent civilians having a walk. These were soldiers that have probably fired bombs into southern lebanon. Hizbullah instatnly said they are willing to trade the two soldiers for the detainees that Israel has. For those claiming that Hizbullah is firing rockets into Israel, please check the facts because it was the Israelis that fired first. They started by systematically destroying bridges, roads and other civilian infrastructure. They bombed the airport(s), ports, roads in and out of lebanon, power stations, and vital infrastructues. Hizbullah actually showed restraint in the first two days and fired only on Israeli military posts, which is justified retaliation. But then Israel escalated and started targeting civilians to put pressure on Hizbullah. I can site all the attrocities, but I'll just give the numbers. Over the past seven days there have been close to 250 deaths by official numbers, but estimates are that many bodies have not been recovered from underneath the rubble of thier houses. Of those 250 dead, there are four or five from hizbullah, and they were not killed by the Israeli bombing, but rather skrimishes with Israeli soliders on the border.
So this bombing that is supposed to kill the Hizbullah "militants" has been so accurate that about 1% of those killed are the targeted militants, and 99% are civilian. Isreal asked people to leave their villages in the south. That would have been possible if they left any bridges or roads to leave on. Even those trying to leave on back roads have been targeted by israeli planes. Refrence the massacre in Marwaheen, where 22 people from two families were bombed on thier way out of thier village (14 children under the age of ten).
To keep with the numbers game, i believe the last statistic from Israel claims that 10 or 11 Israeli civilians have been killed by Hizbullah bombings. Check that ratio... 25:1. And the whole world is crying for Israel.
Lets call a spade a spade and stop the bullshit. Isreal has some of the most advanced military technology in the world. They are bombing from land, sea and air. Bombs are being dropped on civilian houses from 10000 feet by F16 that are not seen or heard until the bomb explodes on the gournd. Hizbullah has some ketyusha rockets that were used by the Soviets in WWII, and have a explosive head of 15 to 30 kilos of TNT (compared to the hundreds of pounds in each Israeli bombs dropped from the air). This is by no means a real war. Its a systematic destruction of a country and a people. Its just amazing that people watch CNN, FoxNews, or any of the openly biased stations and take thier word to be the word of God. Why not take a little time and look at it from all sides. Read the Isreali papers online. Read the Lebanese papers online. Form your own opinion before writing, because the regurgitation of news you saw or heard doesn't serve any purpose, and is an insult to any intelligent reader.
I appologize for being long winded, but this is a touchy subject for me as a large majority of my family including my parents is pinned down in South Lebanon under fire from the Israeli war machine. I just hope a solution can be reached soon. This is no longer about two soldiers, this is a matter for survival for Lebanon as a whole.

I would be interested in hearing from you why you believe it is not fair.
I don't like it, personally, but I don't think Israel is wrong. The Hezbollah is a militant terrorist organization primarily created for and devoted to the destruction of Israel. They are known for suicide bomb attacks on and the kidnapping of Israeli civilians. The Hezbollah don't bother warning Israeli civilians when they attack. As a matter of fact, they often target Israeli civilians. At least Israel dropped leaflets to warn Lebanese civilians of the impending attack. The Hezbollah are also tied to attacks on and kidnappings of U.S. citizens and citizens of other nationalities, as well.
What would you have Israel do? Should they just sit there and allow the Hezbollah to attack their civilians? Should they allow the wanton slaughter of innocent Israeli men, women, and children? How is it not fair that Israel is striking back at the Hezbollah, especially considering they tried to warn the Lebanese civilians in advance?
News publications of the last two decades have been riddled with reports of the Hezbollah bombings, attacks, and kidnappings. Is that fair? Israel is dealing with unreasonable people and I don't think their actions at this point are unreasonable.

Israel is doing very good to deal with the terrorist activity by using strong hammer against these bugs terrorists all over the world are few in no but because of their hide and strike strategy and being funded by country's they act very destructively involving the whole world into these acts . all nations against terrorism should at once come together and root it out first and then see how well the world grows economically

Muslims, and especially Arabs Muslims, are anti-Jewish and anti-Israel, and have hounded and harrassed Israel for 60 years or so. If Hezbollah rocketed New Jersey and kidnapped some US soldiers, I don't think anyone in the US would mind our going after them, now would they? It is easy to note that Israel has responded to the kidnappings "out of proportion" and that the Lebanese are not Hezbollah.
But Israel is not responding to the kidnappings, really, but rather to the whole, larger problem of constant harrassment by terrorist groups. Nobody, least of all the countries that harbour these hatred-motivated terrorists, is providing any discipline of these groups, nobody is even trying to reason with them. And that is largely because they agree with them. Which is why they allow them to terrorize Israel. It would be quite a different story if these groups decided to terrorize the countries they were in: THEN you'd see quite a bit of "discipline" of them.
Look at what these Islamists are doing and where: lately some group of them have blown up 200 innocent people on a commuter train in India. These people are into death and destruction, stupidly, like a child having a hissyfit, gratuitously and egregiously. It is for nothing other than snotty, spiteful revenge.
The countries neighboring Israel are using these terrorist groups as a proxy - they do what they as countries cannot do. So strikes by these groups are strikes by the country that keeps them.
I am sick and tired of all this tit for tat violence for sure. But how can I fault Israel for its responses when my own country is spending itself into ruin and sending bombs and troops against the same enemy?
These Arabs and their terrorist proxies have refused over and over again to abide by one deal or "roadmap" or cease fire, much to their own detriment, and with nobody to blame but themselves, they blame everybody else, depicting themselves as poor, picked-on victims of "Zionists" and "US Crusaders" and "Great Satans." Gimme a break.
I feel bad for Lebanon, as they have lost what they have built up for themselves after the last cataclysm, their civil war. And it is probably not their fault that Hezbollah is dug in on their turf. But they have them there, and they have been caught up in this "War by Proxy," and the Arabs and Islamicists being what they are, if not now, then later anyway.

So you're against people fighting for their life?
So you're for kidnapping soldiers and bombing only civilian targets?
You must be a great lover of humanity!
but of course it's not your fault if all you do is listen to CNN try listening to Fox News and maybe you will get a more balanced view.

I think whatever Israel is doing is none of my business as it should be none of the american politicians business. We worry so much about what every one else does but could care less what goes on in our country. I ssay fix what is wrong in the United States then maybe worry about other countries.

Israel's reaction to the soldier kidnapping was a bit over-the-top, but then again the Israelis couldn't just sit back and do nothing.
