Programing languages will not function when poorly written. they have many variables to keep in mind. They have logical consequences and dynamic actions. They allow more control of results than human language.
As a result of all the factors in learning and using a programing language, a student increases concentration, memory capacity, logical thinking and understanding consequences and variability. The ability to plan ahead, and design with many variables in mind are valuable abilities learned when studying a programing language.
The results of a well written program are similar to a well painted picture or a well written story. There is a sense of achievement, and recognition from others.
I would recommend learning a programing language to everyone. Of course not everyone has an interest in controlling a machine in that way just as not everyone has an interest in painting or writing. But if you are interested, go for it!
;-D When I made my first animation, and the little frog jumped across the screen, I felt great!
