Someone once told me that a 3-day listing (Thursday - Sunday) that will end by 9pm EST is ideal b/c a lot of people are on their computers on the weekends and anything more than a 3-day auction and people watch it but then forget to bid.
Are all these things true or is there a better time frame now that it's summer and people are outside more?

It depends a lot on your product and your target audience. However, I've found that the longer the item is listed, the more people will know about it, and it doesn't cost any more for a one week listing. At least, it didn't about a year ago when I quit listing stuff.

Also, listings that end in the evening by 10 est do a little better, because it's evening on both coasts. But the bottom line is that if you have a product that people want and you handle your business in a professional way, your items will sell regardless of when you list them.

Certainly being sure to have your auction run through the weekend is a must. In my experience 70-80% of the visits to your listing occur in the final 3 days, so whether summer or not starting on Thursday and ending Sunday will have the highest success rate.

I don't think it really matters the timeframe, moreso what you're selling. I've sold items from December - May, all days of the week at all times and always had the same results. If you're looking for a month frame though, definitely Nov/Dec! Everyone is looking for Christmas gifts. If you can stand to wait until then, that definitely is the time to sell.

However, be well aware that if you do sell things in December, the rush at the post office is INSANE! As much as it's great for making money and selling things, the wait time and craziness you'll experience by mailing so close to Christmas makes it almost not worth it :(

I say on christmas break, on the weekends is the all time BEST! Then you can sell for about $2 - $10 more (it depends what you're selling). GOOD LUCK ;)
