I have had bad back pain for 11 years and have found relief with massage pads, heating pads, hot baths, etc. Also try ice for 15 minutes then heat. The ice numbs the pain, reduces inflammation and then when you add the pain it is like putting water on a fire. Take Aleve, Advil, Tylenol, or Tylenol Arthritis...whichever you areused to taking. These will help until you get results. Also do not just lay around. I know that it is the only thing you want to, but try to take small walks. Exercise really does help. Good luck! I feel your pain :( You will get better.

My husband used those over the counter back heater pads and he said the worked great. He has a very physical job so if he said he had no pain then I would have to believe they work. My other suggestion would be at night when sleeping use a heating p[ad or ice pack and elevate your legs under the knees with pillows that worked for me.

Try an osteopath my husband was given a month on the sick by the doctor and some pain killers he saw the osteopath after one session he got rid of the walking stick and was back to work after the second session. It may seem expensive but when you look at the loss of earnings on the sick then you see it's not.

Hope you feel better soon.

Depending on the results of the xray, try a chiropractor. I know the thought can be scary, but I promise you, you walk out feeling like jello! I love it!

You could try a T.E.N.S. machine that pregnant women use, they are supposed to be fantastic for back pain and certain hospitals do lend/hire (bout £20 per month) them for such things.
