It's very simple. Find a developing trend of need for a large number of people--let's say baby boomers--77 million of them in this country alone--and develop an answer to that need. Develop a strategy for distributing your answer afford-ably and conveniently to as many of those baby boomers as possible, marketing always to the leading edge of the market.
For example, the leading edge of baby boomers--those born in 1946--will be 60-years-old this year. Every year for the next 18 years, until 2024, a bunch of baby boomers will become 60-years-old. What is it that 60-year-old men and women want, either to achieve an advantage or to avoid a loss, for which they're willing to pay up to $29.95? Find out what that is! Design, develop and distribute it. Control your costs so that your profit on each sale is $10, and when you move 100 million units of whatever this product or service is, you will have $1 billion in profit.
So you see, how to do it is easy. The real challenge you confront is discovering within yourself a "why to do it" that is so powerful, so real, so dynamic, so compelling that no obstacle will deter you. You see, that's what Gates did! He began with his "why" added his "how," pushed "when" into the unforeseeable future, and then he aligned himself with the seven indisputable principles that govern success. They are:
1. Get started
2. Become and remain teachable
3. Become and remain coachable
4. Learn to master systems and process thinking
5. Learn to work smart
6. Learn to work hard
7. Don't quit
There's your answer. The choice is yours.
Have a nice day.
