the black spots might be a Septoria leafspot characterized by numerous small black spots on the leaves. The spots later turn white and tiny black dots appear in the white centers. The disease starts on the bottom leaves and may become severe in wet weather. Leaves gradually turn yellow and die as the disease works its way up the plant. Premature death of vine significantly reduces tomato production.

Solutions: If septoria leaf spot has been a problem in the past, apply Soap-Shield Fungicidal Soap when setting out plants, then reapply every 7-10 days. Apply more frequently if disease is increasing rapidly. Reapply after rain. Weed Barrier Mats also help by keeping fungi in the soil from splashing onto leaves during rains.
Try a foliar spray of BioBoost from the time plants are set out to improve plant vigor. If possible, use irrigation to avoid wetting leaves.

Check for caterpillars, also check from bugs on the leaves, sounds like they are getting hit by some kind of bug.
