Has anyone used the light starch spray before ironing?

I can't seem to get my husband's shirts ironed well enough. Should I get starch spray? If so, how well does it work?

Spray starch is great for getting wrinkles out of men's dress shirts. You don't need too much. Try using just a light spray at first. You can always spray it again if it's not enough. Too much will make the fabric too hard. And be careful, it can make your floor slippery. You might want to put an old sheet or something under your ironing board or you'll end up washing the floor everytime you use the starch.

It works great if you use it right. The best way to starch clothes is to spray them LIGHTLY, and let them sit for a bit. If you iron it too quickly after spraying, it will flake. You have to let it soak in a bit. Also, dont spray while it's on your ironing board. Someone told me a trick one time with heavy starch (that I couldn't get to stop flaking), was to spray the shirt down and then seal it in a bag in the fridge for an hour. Good luck! ps.. Starch works great on those shirts you just cant get those darn wrinkles out of!

I'm military, so I have used light starch and heavy starch. For dress shirts, light starch should do the trick in terms of getting and keeping the wrinkles out. Be sure to shake the starch well and often, spray lightly, and use the steam setting on your iron. One word of warning: Starch cans are notorious for clogging up, so before you use it dunk the sprayer tip in hot water to get any old starch off.

Spray starches work great, just don't use too much. Have you tried just dampening the shirts before you iron them.. You're very rare, not many women still iron. Personally, call me crazy but I love to iron.

If I can't get to the cleaners, I use heavy starch spray. Works great, but don't spray too much. On dark clothes, you'll be able to see it flake up ( you can just brush it off with your hand) if you use too much. Go for it and Good luck!
