Did you mean episiotomy?
"..is an incision into the perinium (Area of skin between the vagina and the anus) to enlarge the space at the outlet." .... so the baby can pass through without ripping you up. Have them sew you back tight.

If you mean an episiotomy, it would be DURING the birth, not after. And it's only necessary if there is an emergency and the baby needs to come out RIGHT NOW. Don't consent to a routine episiotomy...it's better to take a chance and see if you would tear or not. (Odds are good that you might NOT tear and even if you do, a tear will heal better than a cut and will most likely be smaller than a cut.)

episiotomy is the surgical incisionbetween the vagina and anus the EPISIORRAPHY is the repair of this incisionl. The stitches to be exact...Episiorraphy could be the stitches in the tears that you sustained during delivery if the dr did not perform an episiotomy.

Do you mean an episiotomy? It is an incision of the perinium, which is the skin between the vagina and the anus, to enlarge the opening during childbirth.
