The nice thing about babies is that you *don't* have to teach them. You simply make opportunities available for them to learn, and they do the rest. And the sooner, the better.

Is there something specific you want to teach? It's useless to teach your baby algebra at 6 months but you can start singing, playing, talking, reading books, etc. at any age. This will teach her language, sounds, social interaction and aid in developing milestones.

True, they start to learn from birth, but there is something that you can do to make it easier for the baby to learn propperly. I am a firm beleiver that baby talk, although fun and cute, is wrong for adults. My wife and I have never talked baby talk to our daughter, so she learned the correct way, for an Okie anyway, to say things. From her first word, "b-b-baff" (bath), we've never had much of a problem understanding her. Durring her baths we would name each part of her body as we washed it. by the time she was one, she could clearly name most parts of the body.
At 13 months, we were walking through Wal-Mart, a lady walked up and started talking baby talk to my little girl. My girl turned to my wife and said, clearly, "Mommy, what's wrong with her?".

teach your baby what? Babies soak info like a sponge. They learn from the minute they're born. Hence the importance of reading to them from the beginning.

from the moment they are born they lierally learn everything from you. there is no teaching involved. They adapt and learn to repeat what you are doing. So just be a godd role model because kids dont need all that pressure, they are having a hard enough time just trying to roll over lol

you actually start to teach your child from the moment it is born. When you are playing with her/him you are teaching them..colors, shapes, numbers. The child will always be learning...good and bad things so be careful.

Teach what? There is a wonderful website, Americanbaby.com, that tells you what your child should be able to do at each month. Hope that helps you.

Teach your baby what? They start learning from the moment they are born. My husband was amazed that first day we had to help our son breastfeed. He said 'Look honey, you taught him something already!'

Your baby is learning from the minute he is born.
Relax....LIFE is a learning experience for very young children.
PLAY is how they learn.
TALK to your child.
Mention colors, shapes or letters that you see around you.
Sing songs.
Count the steps as you climb the stairs.
Play "I spy" with them.
They're little sponges and they will soak it all up.
