Yes there is. But it is also true that most people are sheep. They tend to follow the rest of the flock.

Oh Yes! There is such a thing as people power. People can be VERY powerful when they refuse to be swept along on the tide of political hysteria. Unfortunately, most people don't believe in their own power, or are afraid of the consequences of standing up for what they value. I think if you stand up for your principles you'll be doing the right thing, and if you find out later that you were wrong, you can adjust your campaign then. Some people are apathetic, but I think this comes from discouragement, not from a lack of caring.

Hi. I dont believe in being doing as we are told to do. There is something called curiosity and inquisition that I believe, we must all indulge in as and when it is very necessary. There is people power but it will come about only when a group of people take the initiative legally (and not take the law into their own hands). The question is whether the people are willing to do it. If they aren't cos of fear then a leader has to lead. Please do not do just because you are told to. Inculcate the habit of questioning the self and the society. WHY, HOW, WHAT, WHEN, and WHEN should be the key words always. Good Luck!

People Power is a catch all phrase that covers a lot of traits and those said traits can be a mixture of different ones for different people in different situations. For instance, Coach Pat Riley of the Miami Heat has won many championships in his career and often gets credit for being a great coach. While I belive that he is a good coach, I realize that he has had talented players to carry out his schemes for success on the court. In short, he has people power. But if there was a manager or supervisor who has the power to dismiss people for not meeting his needs, and there are people who stick around for fear of losing their jobs, then that supervisor would not have people power.

What we call "terrorism" is a fine example of people power. The riots in France were people power. It still exists, but not so much in the modern police states of the USA or UK.
"Black man got a lot of problems
But they don't mind throwing a brick
White people go to school
Where they teach you how to be thick
And everybody's doing
Just what they're told to
And nobody wants
To go to Jailllll!"
The Clash - White Riot. A great people power song!

Well, when you have an atmosphere where it is unpatriotic to question your government, that is a great deal closer to the fascism side of the spectrum than the Democracy (people power) side.

People are sheep....they beleive whatever the media tells them to think. People need to learn to think for themselves and not let the media do it for them.
