Jhonen Vasquez is the most talented comic artist I have ever encountered. Read some of this comics: -

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
Squee
I Feel Sick
Fillerbunny

and there are many more. He is fantastic, if not a little dark...

Neil Gaiman. Read the Sandman series first, and anything else he writes. He's incredible. They are in the DC comics line.
