I've just been listening to radio 2 (for a change) and what I would like to know is where on earth do they get the names from for the people who ring in with the traffic news? ie Hob Gobblin, Manx Dragon, Soup Spoon.

Most of the callers are trckers. They use their Citizen Band radio names, these are called "handles".

They are a nickname... like "Smokey" and the "Bandit".... if you know what I mean!

And AK81 is such a sane normal name. Oh that's right its a nickname, Its a bit of fun you dull sod, have a laugh and be grateful some people are willing to help out and let you know what the traffic is doing.
