weak Division but the Pirates don't have the talent overall. The Pittsburgh market is too small to compete with the major market teams. That's what makes Green Bay and the Steelers so remarkable was winning franchises.

Not for another couple years. The organization has a plan and are following through on it though. Great young pitchers and a talented base. Even if you do get in because of a weak NL, you won't be a true contender for another 2 or 3 years.

No way. Lol, 3 of 4 games! Even though they play in one of the weakest divisons in baseball they will not finish top 4 in that division.
AL Central will finish 1. Cards 2. Astros 3. Reds 4. Brewers 5. Cubs 6. PIRATES.

I'll agree they are getting better... but I don't think they'll contend for the playoff until next year or the year after that... I think the Pirates are on their way back...

No, I don't. If Cincinnati, the leading wild card team in the NL, only plays .500 ball for the next 60 games, they will be at 79w/74l. To catch up, the Pirates would have to win 46 of their next 60 just to catch up, thats over .700 ball. Sorry, but those are the numbers.

The NL is real weak, especially the central but a few wins wont do it. They are too far back and need more depth at a lot of positions to be contenders.

Not this year - they'd have to win about 60 of their remaining 68 games to even be considered a legitimate wild card contender, and I don't see that happening. They'd have to go 48-20 to even hit .500, and even that's a long shot.

The Pirates are so far away from contention you would be able to get to Mars quicker.
