well...

Global warming... If this is true, then that will mean a longer growing season for farmers. This means that we will be able to produce lots and lots more food. And if the need dictates it there is a great amount of land in this world where we have not grown food that can be utilized for this perpouse.

Energy. Well it is a for gone conclution that fussion enengy will take over and we (on earth) will have an almost infinite supply of enengy. It is just a matter of time till it happens. And the fuel is the most abondent fuel in the universe. (Hydrogen)

The question is, "What population can we keep alive?"

Clearly it is more than 7 billion. Seeing as how we are not growing on all availible land, I would say that it is up to 9 or so. If we were to go less lavish in out diets(No more ostrage burgers) then we could probaly go another bill.

As genetic engeneering gets better, we will be able to create drought, insect and every thing else resistat crops, so the ammount of food that will be yeilded will probalby double.

If you remeber from walking around it the forest, you can see wild strawberry plants. They used to be all maybe the size of a bouncy ball, and look what selective breading has done.
Genetic engeneering has the potential to do sooo much more.

So yes Technologies will be able to solve all of our argicutural and energy needs

Americans currently spend one the of the lowest percentages of their income on food in the world. Modern agriculture is constantly working to make food even more efficiently. It was not long ago that plows were being pulled with horses. My grandfather can still remember having draft horses for farm work. Today we have huge combines that can do the work it would have taken a horse to do in a week in mere hours.

Currently researchers across the country are working to conserve energy in agriculture. Bio-diesels and other fuels are being researched by many in the agriculture field. There is also research being done on using manure and other by-products and waste to conserve energy. There are already systems that can convert manure into energy to fuel a barn.

Agriculture is also working to conserve water. It is believed that this will be one of the biggest problems in agriculture in the future. Many areas that were once prime farm ground have become sub divisions or have a lowered water table due to the growth of urban areas.

I don't believe our modern agriculture is suitable for all times.Despite advances in Bio-fuels,it is still locked in to fossil fuels,in soil prep.,in planting,in cultivation, and in harvest, not to mention delivery. There is also the problem of Mono-culture,the farmer is very dependent on one or two cash crops to carry his production.
