Several things: first, where are you? Since there are *so* many species of moths and butterflies around the world, narrowing this down by location might help some. Second, caterpillars generally don't bite. They are much more likely to be poisonous by virtue of their spines, which brings us to third -- does it have any? Finally, fourth -- just how big is this thing that you are worried about getting bitten by it? Run away?! :-)
