Yes, you should always tell the truth especially to the ones you love. If you tell them a lie and they find out you have taken a big bite out of one of the most important things we need with one another TRUST. You can rebuild the trust but it takes time. would you want someone you loved doubting your word? If not then do not lie. If it is something that hurt their feeling , be tactful and it won't hurt as bad and it will be easier to get over than the lie would.

not at all -
truth doesn't equal love - would I like to hear the truth from y husband that he thinks I'm fat? no way should i tell him when I flirt with the gas man? no way
Should I tell him how much I paid for my new clothes ? for what purpose?
I love my husband dearly - we are married 25 years and he expects me to lie and I from him - the truth is not always pleasant and you only use it to serve a better purpose -
If you have done something wrong to your partner but he will never find out - then keep it to yourself and suffer in silence - by your telling the truth you only want to release your own guilty feelings it won't help anyone - that is if you truly love the person

If it doesn't concern them, don't tell them. You will be hurting a lot of people if you always told the truth. For example:
1. Dude your girlfriend is fat.
2. Lady, your baby is ugly.
3. Fat woman, PUT THE FRENCH FRY DOWN.

I hope you get the idea.

Telling the truth to anyone is the best. However if my wife bought a new dress and asked if she looked fat in that dress, I would look her in the eye and say "No sweetheart, you look sexy". You have to admire someone honest enough to tell his wife she looks fat even though he would be sleeping on the couch for a month. I am not that honest.

The difference between a wise man and a smart man is that both may know the truth, but the wise man knows better when to speak it.

yes. sometimes the truth can hurt a lot, but it's important to be honest so that they know that they can always trust you. maybe it might seem like it would hurt them a lot now, but later you'll be really glad you did. if you really don't want to tell t hem something, try to avoid the subject.

Absolutely. Tell the truth always. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything! Start telling tales and you have to remember to whom you told which story to. I have been there and it sucks!

My personal believe is that the truth is what you have conviction in. Like now i'm lying but i believe what i say so as far as i am concerned it is the truth.

to tell all the truth?
hm...
well for example you can tell the truth, but you should search for good words to do this. not to say truth directly to the face. maybe just be sincere and sensitive, trustful.
