A colleague of mine seems to remember of a male duo who won a grammy award around the 80's or 90's but they had it taken away from them as they didn't sing/write the song for which they won the award. One of the guys later killed himself (he thinks). What was the name of the singers/group, the song and which year was it???

Haha, Milli Vanilli. They won the 1990 Grammy for Best New Artist (the song was Girl You Know It's True), then had it revoked when they found out they didn't perform on the album. One member did kill himself, the other is still trying to make it as a credible solo artist.

Have an inkling it was a duo called MilliVanilli - made up of Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus. In 1990 (Feb 22) they won "Best New Artist" Grammy for their debut album "Girl You Know It's True". This was later revoked because it was proved that they did not actually sing on the record.

Millie Vanillie they won Best New Artist in 1990. Robert 'Rob' Pilatus one of the singers died of from a drug overdose in April 2, 1998.
