Everyone believes it was Elizabeth, but she was so wrong about so many things....I believe that Jane actually was more intelligent because she did not jump to conclusions as fast. How about you?

For example:

She was appauled that her best friend married Mr. Collins.

She believed Mr. Wickham when Jane had her doubts.

Ect....

Good question. I think intelligence has a lot of factors to it. For instance, Elizabeth could think more quickly then her sisters, but that led to her leaping to conclusions, that were SOME of the time, erroneous. Jane was a more steady thinker, and I think she didn't let emotions cloud her judgments, but she was also an optimist. Remember, she thought Wickham would marry Lydia on his own, with out bribery, out affection for her.

So both of them had their faults, but together they could often come to the truth.

Jane wouldn't let herself jump to conclusions because she is just too sweet and kind and sees the world through rose-colored glasses. Elizabeth, I have every confidence, usually IS a good judge of character, but like any girl can be, was fooled by an abnormally bad first impression and a pretty face. Elizabeth was far wittier than any of her sisters.

i don´t agree
jane was more naive and kind hearted... Elizabeth was more racional but blind by prejudice, that is way she made that mistake in regard of Wickham.
in that snese I don't belive Jane to be the smart one...
