Fascists and conservatives have always had a lot in common. They're both right wing parties after all. It's worth remembering that Hitler felt that his Nazi party had many similarites with the Conservative administation of the 1930's, and that a significant amount of the aristocracy in the uk were donating money to the Nazi party through Hitler's UK ambassador because they thought that Hitler had 'the right idea'.

Sigh...the never ending battle against ignorance, hatred, and stupidity continues...

Generally, conservatives believe in the Constitution, which means they believe in freedom. Specifically, freedom from the government. Hardly fascist, as fascists generally favor government control.

Generally, modern liberals believe the government is the answer for everything. The intend to force every man, woman, and child to participate in government programs, whether they want to or not. This would be a lack of freedom, as the government would control everything, this would be far more consistent with a fascist ideology.

"... and the truth shall set you free."

neo, (new) Fascist (Italians who opposed Bolshevism and took over the government of Italy for Bentio Mussolini). The fascists were Hitlerites. I suppose that the liberals are name-calling again, labelling anyone opposed to their point of view as nazis.

It is a crude appendage, and does not apply to conservatives who support Israel and support the government of the USA. The liberals describe conservatives as neo-cons? The label simply does not fit. They portray themselves as the intelligensia, but they are really warped, godless peopel who don't have a clue, and could care less.

simply put, fascism is corporate government. now take a look around.

during FDR's tenure, heads of American industry plotted to overthrow Roosevelt and install a fascist dictator using disgruntled WWI veterans. The History Channel had a very good documentary on this, to which I've provided the link below.

Probably the same time socialists and communists started calling themselves democrats. However real conservatives are far from fascist.

Maybe you are confusing conservatives with republicans, they aren't necessarily one in the same you know. The current admin. proves that beyond a doubt.

They didn't. Vice versa. It was the people who hate conservatives who started calling them fascist.

Nazi Germans were remarkably similar to the Republican party in the US today.

I don't know that they actually called themselves fascists, but, then again, neither do Republicans.
